Saturday, more than 800 people filled the Maces Lane Middle School gym for a boisterous political gathering. The theme was the reluctance of First District Congressman Andy Harris to hold a town hall meeting, but the star turned out to be his democratic stand-in Congressman Jamie Raskin.
The rally was organized by two local grassroots organizations, Cambridge Indivisible, and Eastern Shore Indivisible. They had planned to conduct a mock town hall meeting with Harris on a giant milk carton that declared him missing. But then like other congressional democrats across the country, Raskin offered to take the place of the Republican.
Without naming him. Raskin attacked Harris’ record in Congress, then zeroed in on what President Donald Trump and the one Raskin called Trump's henchman, billionaire Elon Musk, were doing to dismantle the federal government.
